Live from Los Angeles, California…
Here’s the format for the playoff round:
-For each matchup, everyone runs head to head.
-The first team to win 3 races will be victorious
-If neither team can get to three races after everybody’s run, relays races will decide the winner.
-No next round matchup here: the winner of each matchup will advance to the playoffs.
Tonight’s Course: Sonic Swing, Tic Toc, Parallel Pipes, Floating Tiles, Hanging Staircase, Warped Wall
Matchup 1: The Ballers (Lorin Ball, Paul Kasemir, Meiling Huang) vs Team Ronin (Flip Rodriguez, Meagan Martin, JJ Woods)
Woods raced out to an early lead.
But Kasemir tied up and passed Woods on the Floating Tiles when Woods slipped.
Then, Woods slipped and fell on Hanging Staircase, allowing Kasemir to climb up the wall unopposed and give his team the early lead.
The Ballers 1 Team Ronin 0
Huang led early.
But Huang got “hung up” (haha) on the Parallel Pipes, and Martin raced past her.
And Martin wouldn’t let up from there, climbing the Wall and tying the score.
The Ballers 1 Team Ronin 1
Rodriguez built a solid lead early.
But he missed a step on Floating Tiles and landed in the water, shocking everyone.
Ball finished the course anyway, but the damage was done. The Ballers are one win away from advancing.
The Ballers 2 Team Ronin 1
The ladies start first, Huang tagged slightly ahead of Martin.
Ball and Woods got hung on Parellel Pipes, but Woods came out of it with the lead.
And Flip atoned for his fall earlier, climbing up the Wall and hitting the buzzer.
The Ballers 2 Team Ronin 2
Final Relay Race:
Huang hands Ball the same small lead.
But Ball stays closer to Woods this team.
But Flip had a slight lead, and it was enough to put his team through to the next round.
And with that win, Team Ronin continues a trend in the competition of struggling through the individual races but dominating the relays.
Team Ronin wins 3-2!!!
Matchup 2: Lab Rats (Chris Wilczewski, Michelle Warnky, Brian Wilczewski) vs Young Bloods (Tyler Gillett, Bree Widener, Kevin Carbone)
Carbone moves out to an early lead.
Speed has been a key to the Young Bloods success. But that speed proved costly as Carbone slipped on Floating Tiles.
From that point on, Wilczewski took a lead he wouldn’t lose, and Carbone fell on Hanging Staircase, ensuring the Lab Rats the lead.
Lab Rats 1 Young Bloods 0
The unbeaten Warnky grabbed the early lead.
That lead “widened” (haha again) on Parallel Pipes.
And Warnky would not miss a step, hitting the buzzer and putting the Lab Rats up 2.
Lab Rats 2 Young Bloods 0
Gillett took an early lead, and Wilczewski’s feet got wet on the first part of the course.
And Wilczewski’s race ended when he fell on Floating Tiles.
Gillett went up the Warped Wall and kept his team alive
Lab Rats 2 Young Bloods 1
Widener stayed step for step with Warnky as both made the tag.
But Chris raced out ahead on Parallel Pipes.
And his brother never looked back, racing up the Warped Wall and moving the Lab Rats onto the next round.
Lab Rats win 3-1!!!
Next Round Matchup: Team Ronin (Flip Rodriguez, Meagan Martin, JJ Woods) vs Lab Rats (Chris Wilczewski, Michelle Warnky, Brian Wilczewski)
The Course: Sonic Swing, Tic Toc, Parallel Pipes, Floating Tiles, Hanging Staircase, Warped Wall, Salmon Ladder, Tumbling Dice, ZigZag Climb
Both men were even after the first two obstacles.
But Wilczewski kept his perfect form on Parallel Pipes and took the lead.
Woods made up ground but was still behind entering the 2nd part of the course.
But by Salmon Ladder, Woods was almost even.
It was anybody’s race on ZigZag Climb until Woods fell.
Wilczewski hit the buzzer and gave his team the early lead.
Team Ronin 0 Lab Rats 1
Now this should be a great matchup, a battle of unbeatens!!!
Martin took a big lead early.
Warnky missed the pipe on Parallel Pipes, and Martin’s lead grew.
But Martin took a rest on the Warped Wall, and that allowed Warnky to even things up.
And Warnky took a slight lead heading into Rumbling Dice.
But Martin tied it up going into ZigZag climb.
And she passed Warnky on the final obstacle, hitting the buzzer. Both ladies completed the course, but it’s Team Ronin who gets the point.
Team Ronin 1 Lab Rats 1
Who will have the edge going into relays?
Flip took a slight lead in the beginning.
The two men fought on Parallel Pipes, and Wilczewski raced out in front.
But Wilczewski fell on Floating Staircase.
Flip finished the fifth obstacle and put his team one win away from the finals.
Team Ronin 2 Lab Rats 1
The Lab Rats are putting Chris Wilczewski against Meagan Martin to start.
Warnky is running the final leg for the Lab Rats.
Wilczewski gave his team a nice lead to start.
But Flip closed the gap significantly before tagging JJ Woods.
And Warnky slipped and fell on Salmon Ladder, sending Team Ronin on to the final four.
Team Ronin wins 3-1!!!
