TV Recap: S03E11 – American Ninja Warrior Junior 2021 Quarterfinals Round 3

American Ninja Warrior Junior Season 3 2021, Episode 11 – Quarterfinals #3

It’s week 3 of the quarterfinals. Competing in the quarters will be all the winners from the first eight episodes plus some wildcard ninjas looking for a second chance.

Let’s review the format:

Ninjas compete in three divisions: 9-10 years old, 11-12 years old, and 13-14 years old. They will compete in head-to-head races.

The quarterfinal round features four ninjas per division. They will start in a seeding round, with the two fastest ninjas from that round taking on the two slowest ninjas in the knockout round.

The winners of the two knockout rounds move on to the quarterfinal showdown, where the winner will move on to the semifinals!!!

Ninja Mentors: Jesse Labreck and Najee Richardson

11–12-Year-old Division

The course: Hopscotch, Lunatic Ledges, Spike Crossing, Broken Bridge, Spring Forward, 13-foot Warped Wall (one hand hold)

Seeding Round: Ryan Cooper vs Owen Pham

Owen raced out to the early lead.

But “Ninja Coop” used one of his strongest obstacles (Spike Crossing) to pass Owen.

Ryan would keep a narrow lead all the way up the Warped Wall.

After the win, “Ninja Coop” was tired, so Owen “resuscitated” the winner.

Seeding Round: Bray Weinacker vs Nathanael Honvou

Bray had a slight lead before Nathanael made a big move on Lunatic Ledges.

That lead only grew on Spike Crossing.

Nathanael kept the lead all the way to the buzzer, setting the tone as ‘Ninja Nutin” looks to become a two-time champion.

Knockout Round: Ryan Cooper vs Bray Weinacker

Just like qualifying, Bray fell on Lunatic Ledges.

Ryan went ahead and hit the buzzer on his way to the Quarterfinal Showdown.

Knockout Round: Nathanael Honvou vs Owen Pham

This pair’s fastest times are separated by one second!!!

And Owen showed that quickness early as he took the lead.

But Spike Crossing again proved to be problematic for Owen, as Nathanael passed Owen on the third obstacle.

“Ninja Nutin” kept that lead all the way up the Warped Wall and onto the Quarterfinal Showdown.

9–10-Year-Old Division

The course: Hopskotch, Lunatic Ledges, Liquid Pipe, Broken Bridge, Flying Saucers, 13 Foot Warped Wall (with two hand holds)

Seeding Round: Caleb Keener vs Porter Fagnant

Caleb took the lead early and held on for his fourth straight win.

Seeding Round: Colton Davis vs Drew Bennett

Drew’s height advantage showed early as his long strides produced a big lead on the first half of the course.

And Drew maintained that lead as he set a new personal best on the course.

Colton hit the buzzer as well after Drew took the win.

During the break…

Knockout Round: Caleb Keener vs Colton Davis

Caleb took the early lead over the “Sizzle Ninja.”

And “Little Cat” kept his lead all the way up the Warped Wall on his way to the Quarterfinal Showdown.

Knockout Round: Drew Bennet vs Porter Fagnant

Drew kept the lead from start to finish as Porter fell on Lunatic Ledges on his way to the Quarterfinal Showdown.

13–14-year-old Division

The course: Hopscotch, Lunatic Ledges, Sideways, Broken Bridge, Spinball Wizard, 13-foot Warped Wall (no hand holds)

Seeding Round: Taylor Greene vs Evan White

A former finalist vs the third fastest time in qualifying.

The pair was even until Evan took the lead on Sideways.

Evan kept that lead all the way up the Warped Wall.

But it was only by a split second that he hit the buzzer just before Taylor to take the win.

Are you faster than a Ninja Junior?

Taylor Greene vs Austin Grey

Grey shockingly fell on Lunatic Ledges.

That was all Taylor needed to take the win (Grey even fell on Spinball Wizard).

Seeding Round: Sienna Perez vs Kaitlyn Berenty

Sienna passed Kaitlyn on Sideways as Kaitlyn fell.

Knockout Round: Sienna Perez vs Taylor Greene

Taylor is trained by Austin Grey while Sienna is trained by her father (also a former ninja).

Both have made a previous final four, but only one can move on this season.

Taylor took the lead after two obstacles.

But the lead was tight, and Sienna was able to move past her on Sideways.

Taylor took the lead again as the pair ran across Broken Bridge.

To catch up, Sienna slipped and fell on Spinball Wizard.

Taylor hit the buzzer and advanced to the Quarterfinal Showdown.

Knockout Round: Evan White vs Kaitlyn Berenty

Kaitlyn fell again on Sideways as Evan advanced to the Quarterfinal Showdown.

11–12-year-old Final Showdown: Ryan Cooper vs Nathanael Honvou

It’s the rubber match for a spot in the Semifinals.

Nathanael got caught up on the net on Lunatic Ledges.

Ryan tried to build on that lead on Spike Crossing as he attempted a long release on the third obstacle.

But Ninja Coop came up short of the platform and fell.

Nathanael went ahead and hit the buzzer on his way to the semifinals!!!

9–10-year-old Final Showdown: Caleb Keener vs Drew Bennett

Drew took the lead early.

Caleb stayed close behind as Drew kept the lead all the way to Flying Saucers.

Trying to catch up, Caleb fell on the fifth obstacle.

Drew hit the buzzer with his fastest time yet (and second fastest time of the season in the age group) on his way to the semifinals!!!

13–14-year-old Final Showdown: Taylor Greene vs Evan White

Both only took a single swing on Lunatic Ledges.

And it was Taylor who had the lead after the second obstacle.

But Evan took a big move on Sideways.

And that move paid off as Evan kept a slight lead all the way up the Warped Wall, earning a spot in the Semifinals.

Your Semifinalists:

9–10-year-old division: Drew Bennett

11–12-year-old division: Nathanael Honvou

13–14-year-old division: Evan White

Just one more week of quarterfinals next week. See you then.
