TV Recap: S03E12 – American Ninja Warrior Junior 2021 Quarterfinals Round 4

American Ninja Warrior Junior Season 3 2021, Episode 12 – Quarterfinals #4

It’s the last week of quarterfinals. One last spot to fill before next week’s quarterfinals.

Let’s review the format:

Ninjas compete in three divisions: 9-10 years old, 11-12 years old, and 13-14 years old. They will compete in head-to-head races.

The quarterfinal round features four ninjas per division. They will start in a seeding round, with the two fastest ninjas from that round taking on the two slowest ninjas in the knockout round.

The winners of the two knockout rounds move on to the quarterfinal showdown, where the winner will move on to the semifinals!!!

Ninja Mentors: Jesse Labreck and Najee Richardson

11–12-Year-old Division

The course: Hopscotch, Lunatic Ledges, Spike Crossing, Broken Bridge, Spring Forward, 13-foot Warped Wall (one hand hold)

Seeding Round: Lindsey Zimmerman vs Josie Anderson

Josie had a small lead going into Spike Crossing.

And that lead grew on the third obstacle.

Josie kept the lead from start to finish to take the win.

Seeding Round: Shae McCarl vs Kiran Narwani

“The Tree Frog Ninja” had the lead after two obstacles.

Much like Josie, Shae increased that lead on Spike Crossing.

Shae was another bell-to-bell finisher in the age group as she took the win.

Knockout Round: Josie Anderson vs Kiran Narwani

Kiran fell on Lunatic Ledges, assuring Josie a spot in the Quarterfinal Showdown.

Knockout Round: Shae McCarl vs Lindsey Zimmerman

Shae was a step ahead early on.

Lindsey got stuck on Lunatic Ledges, allowing Shae to build her lead.

And Shae hit the buzzer with a new personal best, setting up a great Quarterfinal Showdown.

9–10-Year-Old Division

The course: Hopskotch, Lunatic Ledges, Liquid Pipe, Broken Bridge, Flying Saucers, 13 Foot Warped Wall (with two hand holds)

Seeding Round: Sophia Krinker-Choi vs Kailey Cooper

Kailey fell on Lunatic Ledges and Sophia hit another buzzer.

Seeding Round: Gabriel Holder vs Grace Schneider

Grace got off to a quick start.

And that lead only grew in the middle of the course.

The theme today is bell-to-bell victories, and that was the case here once again.

Gabriel did go ahead and finish the course.

Knockout Round: Sophia Krinker-Choi vs Gabriel Holder

Sophia beat Gabriel in a race back in qualifying by .65 seconds.

But early on, Sophia didn’t want it to be that close.

She came out Lunatic Ledges with a big advantage and never looked back, clinching a spot in the Quarterfinal Showdown.

Knockout Round: Grace Schneider vs Kailey Cooper

Kailey got her feet wet on Lunatic Ledges but held on and kept running the course.

It wasn’t enough as Grace advanced to the Quarterfinal Showdown.

13–14-year-old Division

The course: Hopscotch, Lunatic Ledges, Sideways, Broken Bridge, Spinball Wizard, 13-foot Warped Wall (no hand holds)

Seeding Round: Jackson Erdos vs Colin Cella

A small stumble by Collin early opened the door for Jackson to race to a big win in 27 seconds.

Seeding Round: Asa Reynolds vs Tate Allen

Asa came out of Lunatic Ledges with a slight lead.

But Tate raced passed him after a small stumble by Asa on Sideways.

Tate would keep that light lead all the way up the Warped Wall.

Both ninjas recorded their personal bests, but it was “Big Game Tate” who took the win.

Warped Wall Showdown: Big Game Tate vs Akbar

Tate challenged Akbar up the Warped Wall and won easily.

Knockout Round: Tate Allen vs Collin Cella

Collin came off Lunatic Ledges with the lead.

These guys were linking the obstacles like crazy!!!

And as they made it up the Warped Wall….

it was Collin who hit the buzzer .3 of a second ahead of Tate.

Knockout Round: Jackson Erdos vs. Asa Reynolds

Jackson set his usual torrid pace, ignoring extra steps entirely on his way to another great run through the course.

Jackson hit the buzzer and advanced to the Quarterfinal Showdown.

11–12-year-old Quarterfinal Showdown: Josie Anderson vs Shae McCarl

It was an even race after the first obstacle.

A slight stumble by Josie on Lunatic Ledges gave Shae the advantage.

Shae’s skills as a rock climber showed on Spike Crossing as she increased her lead.

Shae kept that lead all the way to the Semifinals!!!

9–10-year-old Quarterfinal Showdown: Sophia Krinker-Choi vs Grace Schneider

These two were dead even through two obstacles.

They stayed even going into the fifth obstacle when Grace took a slight lead.

But Grace got caught up on the Flying Saucers, and Sophia passed.

And by .69 seconds, Sophia hit the buzzer to claim a spot in the Semifinals!!!

13–14-year-old Quarterfinal Showdown: Collin Cella vs Jackson Erdos

Collin raised his game to try and keep up with Jackson.

But it just wasn’t going to happen.

Collin recorded a personal best, but it wasn’t enough to beat Jackson, who is moving onto the Semifinals!!!

Your Finalists:

11–12-year-old division: Shae McCarl
