TV Recap: S14E04 – American Ninja Warrior Season 14 Qualifying Round 4 2022

American Ninja Warrior Season 14 2022: Qualifying Round 4 Season 14 Episode 4

Just two more weeks left of qualifying in San Antonio!!!

And this week we get a whole heaping helping for Minions: The Rise of Gru!!! In theaters July 1st.

(Not as excited about that part, but you know, cross promotion!!!)

The Course: Shrinking Steps, Shattered Panes (new obstacle), Split Decision (Despicaballs (yes that’s Minion themed) or Log Runner), Kick Boards, Final Frontier (new obstacle), Warped Wall

Jess Wombles, 15-year-old High School Student

Wombles loves flying airplanes with her father.

And she was flying through the course as Wombles moved quickly through the first two obstacles.

The crowd told Wombles to run over the Minions.

That was a bad idea as she fell at Stuart (the fourth despicaball, I believe).

Isaiah Thomas, 16-year-old High School Student

A little early in the show for the Flyboy Ninja.

And last season’s Stage Two qualifier made quick work of the first half of the course.

But Final Frontier proved to be too much for Thomas. We’ll see if his fast time was enough to move on.

During the break….

Adam Naids fell on Shattered Pains.

Megan Jarmosevich also fell on Shattered Pains.

Tyler Yamauchi fell on Final Frontier.

Tristan Wyman, 21-year-old College Student

Wyman is from North Pole, Alaska, where Wyman trains on homemade obstacles and celebrates Christmas year-round.

And Santa is here to watch Wyman’s run!!!

Wyman’s homemade training paid off on the first half of the course.

And Wyman’s strong run continued all the way to fifth obstacle before Wyman fell on Final Frontier.

During the break…

Sabrina Tamraz fell on Shattered Panes.

Andrew Naquin fell on Kick Boards.

Donovan Metoyer fell on Final Frontier.

Barclay Stockett, 27-year-old Gymnastics Coach

Stockett bought a house and got engaged to her fiancé, Tee this year!!!

Stockett had to take 2020 off and 2021 was a rough return.

But Stockett looked to be back to her old form on the first half of the course.

And after a couple of key adjustments, the Sparkly Ninja complete Kick Boards.

Her run ended on Final Frontier, but that is the best run Stockett has put forward in years.

A run strong enough to send her to the semifinals!!!

During the break…

Christie Brophy fell on Shattered Panes.

Nick Demure fell on Kick Boards.

David Tomassoni fell on Final Frontier.

Katie Bone, 16-year-old High School Student

Bone was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes when she was 11.

She also an Olympic level rock climber.

Bone also wears her glucose monitors visibly while she runs.

Bone got off to a strong start as she moved through the first half of the course.

And Bone’s strong run continued as she worked methodically through Kick Boards.

Final Frontier has taken down every ninja who’s attempted it so far.

But not Katie Bone!!!

And on her 2nd attempt up the Wall, Bone became the night’s first finisher!!!

Katie Bone completes the course in 5:08.92.

During the break…

Parker Hewes fell on Final Frontier.

Kristen Brickner fell on Shrinking Steps.

Mike Eckert fell on Despicaballs.

Mark Antioquia, 35-year-old Gym Director

Antioquia came out in an inflatable shark costume.

He’s being cheered on by a T-Rex (his fiancée and fellow ninja, Heather Petty).

Mark the Shark moved quickly through the first three obstacles.

And Antioquia’s solid run continued on Kick Boards.

The crowd went crazy when Antioquia made it past Final Frontier.

And they exploded went Antioquia hit his first buzzer!!!

Mark Antioquia completes the course in 4:03.33.

During the break…

Chris Adkins fell on Kick Boards.

Owen Dyer hit another buzzer!!!

Heather Petty fell on Shattered Panes.

Gary Weiland, 42-year-old Firefighter

Weiland is an amputee who’s been training for ninja the last two years.

Weiland made multiple saves as he moved past Shattered Panes.

Then, Weiland slipped on the last log of Log Runner.

He held on for a long time before finally falling in the water.

During the break…

Ben Evert fell on Shattered Panes.

Mark Farrell fell on Final Frontier.

Jody Avila hit the buzzer!!!

Jonathan Godbout, 17-year-old High School Graduate

Godbout took a shot to the face on Shattered Panes.

But Godbout shockingly fell on the Despicaballs.

Ernesto Perez, 27-year-old Landscaper

Perez appears in the “Flybird,” a series of video made by Ernesto’s friend Jude.

The videos speak out against bullying.

And Jude (who is known as “Skybird”) was on commentary during Ernesto’s run.

Unfortunately, Jude’s commentary wasn’t enough to get Perez through the course as he fell on Shattered Panes.

During the break…

Devon Collins fell on Shattered Panes.

Elijah Levee fell on Despicaballs.

Liv Hackmann fell on Kick Boards

Anabella Heinrichs, 17-year-old High School Student

Heinrichs spends lots of time in the water doing underwater diving and scuba diving.

Though Heinrichs is competing for the first time, she did not look like a rookie on the first two obstacles.

And though Heinrichs fell on Final Frontier, she is still moving onto the semifinals.

During the break…

Erick Zamorano fell on Log Runner.

Devin Harr fell on Final Frontier.

Jaelyn Bennett also fell on Final Frontier.

Austin Gray, 25-year-old Ninja Trainer

Gray has been the runner-up each of the last two seasons.

And the first two obstacles were no issue as Gray established a quick pace.

As Gray approached Final Frontier, he was on pace for the night’s fastest time.

And Gray had it with a full 45 seconds to spare!!!

Austin Gray completes the course in 2:16.35.

During the break…

Megan Rowe fell on Kick Boards.

Emmanuel Aouad fell on Final Frontier.

Isaiah Wakeham hit the buzzer!!!

Isabella Wakeham, 18-year-old College Student

Wakeham is coming off a stellar campaign with a Vegas performance better than any female rookie in history.

A near slip on Shattered Panes nearly ended Wakeham’s run early.

But she held on and made it to the 2nd half of the course.

After some mid-course dialogue with Matt and Akbar, Wakeham took her shot at Final Frontier.

However, Wakeham will be moving onto the semifinals.

During the break…

Christian Youst hit the buzzer!!!

Elliot Jolivette fell on Log Runner.

Jolivette’s fall assured that seven women would qualify in the top 30 for the first time in herstory!!!

Nate Hansen, 21-year-old Business Student

Hansen took growth hormone as kid.

He was supposed to be 5’8 but ended up at 5’2.

But 5’2 works pretty well for ninja, according to Nate.

Hansen worked quickly through the first half of the course.

The pace was so fast that he was pushing his roommate, Austin Gray for the night’s fastest time.

And when Hansen went from Final Frontier to straight up the Wall, and had the top spot clinched!!!

Nate Hansen completes the course in 2:12.99.
