TV Recap: S02E06 – American Ninja Warrior Junior Kids 2020

American Ninja Warrior Junior Kids Season 2 2020, Episode 6

Season 2 of American Ninja Warrior Jr. rolls on!!!

Let’s review this season’s format:

-Just like last season, ninjas will compete in three divisions: 9-10 years old, 11-12 years old, and 13-14 years old. They will compete in head to head races.

The qualifying rounds feature four ninjas per division. They will start in a seeding round, with the two fastest ninjas from that round taking on the two slowest ninjas in the knockout round.

The winners of the two knockout rounds move on to the final showdown, where the winner will move on to the quarterfinals.

-New this season: instead of waiting until the end of the season to see all the winners, there will be a quarterfinal round episode after three episodes to determine who goes on to the semifinals.

-With the new format, there will only be three semifinal qualifiers, so the fourth spot will be determined with the two fastest non-winners competing for a wildcard spot.

9-10 Year Old Division (Ninja Mentor: Najee Richardson)

The course: Shrinking Steps, Little Dipper, Spider Walls, Block Run, Flying Squirrel, 13 Foot Warped Wall (with two hand holds)

Seeding Round: Meredith Kim vs Teafilia Walton

Teafilia wants to be an FBI agent when she grows up, while Meredith is a playground fanatic.

Both ninjas were even going into Little Dipper.

Teafilia took the lead after a good run through the 2nd obstacle.

But Meredith evened things up on Spider Walls and took advantage of a pause by Teafilia to take the lead going into the fifth obstacle.

The lead alternated again as Teafilia passed Meredith on Flying Squirrel with a great dismount.

But Teafilia missed the handle on the Warped Wall, and Meredith passed her and hit the buzzer to take the win.

Seeding Round: Zav Maningo vs Charlie Ball

Charlie has a great relationship with his granddad, while Zav trains with ninja legend Arnold Hernandez.

Charlie took the lead going into the Little Dipper.

And he would keep that lead for the whole race as Zav’s bar came off the track on Little Dipper.

During the break…

Knockout Round: Charlie Ball vs Teafilia Watson

Charlie Ball advanced to the Final Showdown.

Knockout Round: Meredith Kim vs Zav Maningo

Zav raced out to the early lead.

He kept that lead as he survived the Little Dipper.

That lead only grew as he made his way to the Flying Squirrel.

Zav earned full redemption from his previous fall, making his way up the Warped Wall and advancing to the Final Showdown.

But Meredith moved into the 2nd wildcard position after her run.

11-12 Year old Division (Ninja Mentor: Jessie Graff)

The course: Shrinking Steps, Little Dipper, Double Tilt Ladders, Block Run, Wing Nuts, 13 foot Warped Wall (one hand hold)

Seeding Round: Sienna Perez vs Rebekah Cornwall

It’s “The Rocker Ninja” vs “The Singing Ninja.”

Sienna is looking for redemption after falling in her knockout round race last season, while Rebekah has been training for ninja for three years.

Rebekah took a quick lead and kept a good pace for the first half of the course.

But Sienna passed Rebekah after a quick dismount on Double Tilt Ladders.

However, the lead was short lived as Rebekah passed Sienna on Block Run.

She would keep that lead all the way up the Warped Wall on her way to victory.

Seeding Round: Andrew Marr vs Daniel Hoxie

Daniel is a multi-sport athlete who trains with Sandy Zimmerman while Andrew can do two finger pullups.

Andrew took the lead after the first two obstacles and a slip by Daniel on the end of Little Dipper.

Andrew kept that lead all the way up the Warped Wall as he took the win.

Knockout Round: Andrew Marr vs Sienna Perez

Sienna took the lead after two obstacles.

Once again, Sienna made quick work of the Double Tilt Ladders.

Andrew pushed hard to catch up, but Sienna kept the lead all the way to the end and advanced to the final  showdown.

During the break…

Knockout Round: Rebekah Cornwall vs Daniel Hoxie

Rebekah moved to 2-0 as she advanced to the Final Showdown.

13-14 year old Division (Ninja Mentor: Drew Dreschel)

The course: Floating Steps, Little Dipper, Crazy Cliffhanger, Block Run, Sky Hooks, 13-foot Warped Wall (no hand holds)

Seeding Round: Kaden Lebsack vs Blake Feero

Kaden loves wakeboarding on the lake while Blake was a semifinalist last season.

Feero started out fast, but Kaden passed him on the Crazy Cliffhanger.

Blake passed Kaden on Sky Hooks and finished the race with a time less than 30 seconds.

Seeding Round: Charlie Ham vs Nia Connor

Charlie is a returning semifinalist while Nia is a competitive bracelet maker who is very close to her mom.

Charlie showed her veteran experience and speed as she raced out to a big lead.

But Charlie slowed down quite a bit on Sky Hooks, allowing Nia to catch up.

Both ninjas made it to the Warped Wall, but neither made it up.

Since Charlie made it to the sixth obstacle first, she took the win.

During the break…

Knockout Round: Charlie Ham vs Kaden Lebsack

Kaden took the win but Charlie did make it up the Warped Wall.

Knockout Round: Blake Feero vs Nia Connor

As usual, Blake came out fast and kept it at that speed all the way to the Final Showdown.

9-10 year old Final Showdown: Zav Maningo vs Charlie Ball

The first of three rematches for the Final Showdown.

Charlie raced out to a big lead early.

He kept that pace up all the way to the Flying Squirrel.

Zav pushed all the way to the end and hit the buzzer, but Charlie took the win and advanced to the Quarterfinals

11-12 year old Final Showdown: Sienna Perez vs Rebekah Cornwall

Like their first matchup, Rebekah raced out to the early lead.

And like their first race, Sienna passed Rebekah on Double Tilt Ladders.

But this time, Sienna kept that lead all the way to the Quarterfinals.

13-14 year old Final Showdown: Kaden Lebsack vs Blake Feero

The two fastest times in the age group going head to head in a great matchup.

Don’t blink or you’ll miss it, folks!!!

The two were even following the Little Dipper.

Kaden took the lead midway through the course.

But Blake moved quickly through the fifth obstacle and passed Kaden on his way to the quarterfinals.
